Higgins Heritage Park is a family of volunteer run working museums with our goal to preserve & showcase our transport, forestry, steam, rural life & farming history of the years of our forefathers and to provide an enjoyable experience for our visitors in a family friendly environment.
Member Groups include: Pigeon Valley Steam Museum (2013) Inc; Historic Transport Museum Trust; Rover Car Club Nelson Inc; Nelson Vintage Engine & Machinery Club Inc; Army Group Centre Inc and The Ray Win Collectio.
Events, show days and community activities are held throughout the year. Come and see: • Steam engines & machinery • Vintage farming machinery & equipment • Rural life museum & heritage collection exhibits • Trucks, cars, bikes from yesteryear • Vintage chainsaw & forestry exhibits • Working vintage sawmill • Ride the bush rail jigger, vintage school bus, • Watch G & HO model trains in action or explore with ‘Rogaine at the Park’ • Make a Knife.
We offer an ideal place for: • Family picnics on the village green • Vintage machinery and car & truck enthusiasts • “Memory lane” trips of our grandparents and forefathers • School groups learning experiences • Vehicle and tractor displays • Special interest groups – e.g photography, motorhomes, car clubs • Community Village Groups visits • NZMCA park-over campsites (must be self contained) • Wedding photos • Rogaine (orienteering with a difference) program • Firewood & landscaping supplies • Make a knife in the blacksmith shop
We are open: September – April 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month 10am – 3pm Steam up each 1st Sunday May – August 1st Sunday of each month 10am – 3pm
