Tasman’s Great Taste Trail is a cycle way and walkway in the Tasman region and is part of Nga Haerenga – The New Zealand Cycle Trail.
There are 2 options for cyclists based in Wakefield:
Rural Tasman: Wakefield – Spooners Tunnel – Tapawera
A 2-3 hour cycle trail leaving from Wakefield village which winds up to the historic 1.4km Spooners Tunnel and then descends to Tapawera through Kohatu.
Town and Country: Nelson City – Nelson Airport – Richmond – Brightwater – Wakefield
A 2-3 hour cycle trail leaving from Nelson City, passing through the Waimea Plains through Brightwater and ending up in Wakefield
Plenty to see along either route, accomodation, meals and drinks available.
